Mozart in May 2024

The DCO is playing the melodious Clarinet Concerto in A minor and the lively Symphony No 40. The mysterious Faure Pavane and Schubert’s music for Rosamunde complete the spring celebration! We are pleased to welcome Marc Dooley as conductor and welcome back Clare Kennington as guest leader.

The Dorking Chamber Orchestra (DCO) are returning to St Martins on 15th October, with a Dorking Autumn Classical concert that is part of the Arts Alive Festival. The program starts with the overture to Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni, packed full of popular tunes.

The DCO are pleased to welcome Filippo Ramacciotti to be the cello soloist in Haydn’s cello concerto no 2. He is a fine young cellist currently studying at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Cobham Surrey.

After an interval the late afternoon concert is rounded off by Symphony No 1 in D by Gounod. This cheerful and interesting symphony was premiered in 1854 and considered to be the inspiration for later works by Bizet and Faure.

The concert starts at 5:30pm and ticket prices are £15 for adults, £7 for students and free for children 15 and under.
